PRESS RELEASE Norwegian Air is expanding and will operate direct flights to Oslo Gardermoen from Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport for the first time

Cluj-Napoca, November 20, 2025:  Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport and Cluj County Council announce the expansion of airline operations Norwegian Air Shuttle ASA (*Norwegian) in Cluj-Napoca, which will operate flights for the first time to Oslo Airport, starting from the summer season of 2026.

Starting from June 20 2026, the airline norwegian will connect the city of Cluj-Napoca with the capital of Norway, Oslo, via flights to the largest airport in this country, Oslo Gardermoen.

Flights will be operated with 2 weekly frequencies, in the days of Tuesday and Saturday, according to the schedule in the following table, thus offering passengers from all over Transylvania an excellent opportunity to travel quickly and conveniently to Scandinavia.

Through the new direct connection, passengers who choose to fly from Cluj International Airport to HUB Oslo Gardermoen, can benefit from multiple connections to the Scandinavian and Baltic countries, through Norwegian and Wideroe, from the network of Oslo Gardermoen International Airport (OSL) – the largest airport in Norway, with over 26 million passengers transported in 2024. The airport is located approximately 40 km north of the capital Oslo and serves as the main hub for Norwegian Air. Oslo Airport was recognized as the most punctual airport in the world in May of this year, according to the latest global on-time performance report by aviation analytics company Cirium.

Also, starting from June 28 2026, the airline norwegian which will connect for the first time the city of Cluj-Napoca with the capital of Denmark, CopenhagenThus, the new airline will operate flights to two of the most anticipated Scandinavian capitals from the 2026 summer season: Oslo (Norway) and Copenhagen (Denmark) from Cluj International Airport.

The President of the Cluj County Council, Mr. Alin Tişe he also wanted to specify: "This new air connection on the Cluj-Napoca – Oslo route Gardermoen offers significant opportunities for both the economic, academic and touristic environments. Cluj thus becomes more accessible to investors from Scandinavia – a region with a strong and innovation-oriented economy, and thus, Cluj residents will have easier access to one of the most dynamic areas of Northern Europe. This achievement represents not only the consolidation of the airport's position as the main air hub of Transylvania, but also a confirmation of the trust that international air operators place in the economic and tourist potential of Cluj County and the region.”
