Cluj-Napoca, the capital of Transylvania
Cluj-Napoca is a municipality located in the central-north-western part of Romania, in the center of Transylvania and in the north-west of the Transylvanian Plateau. The seat of Cluj County, as well as the historical capital of Transylvania, the city is surrounded by the Cluj and Feleacului Hills and is located on the middle course of the Someşul Mic river. The name of Cluj was mentioned for the first time in 1275. Later it was attested in documents and in the Latin variant Claudiopolis.
Cluj-Napoca is known worldwide as the "city of festivals". It hosts some of the most attractive European cultural, film and music festivals, such as: Transilvania International Film Festival (TIFF), Jazz in the Park, Clujotronic, Comedy Film Festival Cluj, Sports Festival, Toamna Muzicală Clujeană, Electric Castle or Untold, the latter annually attracting tens of thousands of participants from the country and abroad with concerts performed by DJs and famous artists.
