PRESS RELEASE – Cluj International Airport exceeds the threshold of 2 million passengers almost a month earlier than in 2024
Marketing2025-10-07T11:55:37+03:00Cluj-Napoca, August 1, 2025 – Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport, together with the Cluj County Council and the airline LOT Polish Airlines, today marked the achievement of the threshold of 2.000.000 registered passengers since the beginning of 2025. — an important milestone reached almost a month earlier than the previous year, when this number was recorded at the end of August. This result reconfirms the strategic role of the airport in the air transport network in Romania and the region, while also reflecting the constant trust of passengers and partners.
It is for the seventh time in the airport's history that this important threshold has been reached, which thus becomes a tradition of operational excellence and continuous development. The anniversary event took place in the presence of representatives of local authorities, partner institutions and organizations, the media, as well as LOT Polish Airlines, the partner company of the anniversary event.
Passenger number 2.000.000 arrived in Cluj-Napoca on flight LO 651 operated by LOT Polish Airlines on the Warsaw - Cluj-Napoca route. He was welcomed upon arrival and given a symbolic award, as a sign of appreciation for the choice made and for the trust placed in the services offered by the airport.
Mr. Viorel Federiga, President of the Board of Directors of Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport, stated: "This new performance confirms the airport's solid development strategy and the airport team's commitment to meeting the growing demands of passengers. Cluj International Airport currently operates a network of over 50 scheduled destinations, covering approximately 20 countries in Europe and the Middle East, along with seasonal charter flights to the main tourist destinations. Exceeding the 2 million passenger threshold in 2025 highlights the upward trend in air traffic and reaffirms the position of Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport as a regional leader among airports in Romania. After a first semester of 2025 marked by record results and a significant increase compared to the same period of the previous year, July brought a new important milestone: on July 29, 2025, the airport processed 13.760 passengers, representing the highest daily traffic ever recorded in July.
In parallel, Cluj International Airport is carrying out strategic investment projects in infrastructure modernization and operational capacity expansion, with the aim of supporting the growth rate and responding to the demands of an increasingly complex air traffic.
