Director of the International Airport Avram Iancu Cluj participated in the 134th ACI Europe Board meeting
Cluj-Napoca, 02.02.2023: Director of the International Airport Avram Iancu Cluj, Mr. David Ciceo, participated as a member of the Management Committee of the International Council of Airports - Europe region (ACI Europe), at the 134th Board meeting of this forum, which took place on of January 26, 2023, in Brussels (Belgium).
The meeting at the beginning of the year focused on the challenges of 2023 for ACI member airports, but also for the rest of the civil aviation ecosystem, namely: adapting aviation activities to the current post-pandemic health context, carrying out civil aviation activities in the context of geopolitical instability Eastern Europe and a prefigured economic crisis, doubled by a crisis of resources, the continuation of efforts to fulfill the requirements regarding environmental policies, the implementation of measures to increase the operational resilience of airports, airlines, handling providers as well as the treatment of the Schengen issue and the system Entry Exit System (EES).
On the occasion of this meeting, including the European Commissioner for Transport, Mrs. Adina Vălean had an intervention in which she brought up the common priorities of the European Commission and ACI Europe for a sustainable air connectivity, built as a result of dealing with current challenges such as: fuels sustainable aviation (SAF) and the carbon trading system (ETS), airport landing/takeoff slots policy and the trans-European transport network (TEN-T).
Last but not least, the meeting of European representatives in the ACI Europe Board on January 26, 2023 offered the opportunity for informal meetings with European parliamentarians with duties in the Transport Committee of the European Parliament, among which we mention only two important names - the Romanian MEP Marian- Jean Marinescu and Spanish MEP Jose Ramon Bauza Diaz - who are also on the list of confirmed speakers for the international aviation conference Aviation-Event 2023 CLJ organized by the Cluj airport, on March 24, 2023.
