Press release 28.01.2020 – Start of work on the Runway parallel to the runway project

Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport, as the beneficiary of non-refundable funds through the Large Infrastructure Operational Program 2014-2020 and the Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure and Communications as the Intermediate Body for Transport, signed on December 20, 2019 Financing Contract No. 56/20.12.2019 for the realization of the "Taxiway parallel to the runway" project.

By building a taxiway, in accordance with the objectives of environmental protection, the project will contribute to the objectives of increasing accessibility and regional mobility, by providing the necessary infrastructure to serve ground operations safely and in a short time, ensuring possibilities increasing the number of operating frequencies or introducing new travel destinations to other regions in the country or abroad for passengers from the Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport catchment area.

The New Taxiway will streamline the movements of aircraft on the ground and handling equipment, which will lead to the optimization of times for conducting ground operations in conditions of increased safety and security, as well as ensuring the optimal framework for supporting passenger traffic recorded in the last period at Cluj Airport.
