Completion of the project "Equipment and security control systems for passengers, baggage and cargo"

As a beneficiary of non-refundable funds through the Large Infrastructure Operational Program 2014-2020, the Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport, an autonomous authority under the Cluj County Council, announces the completion of the project "Equipment and security control systems for passengers, baggage and cargo", code SMIS 2014+ 155156. The project was implemented following the conclusion of the Financing Agreement No. 188/02.11.2022 between Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure.
As part of the project, high-performance security equipment for passenger and baggage scanning and metal and explosive detection was purchased, respectively, 4 equipment with a higher level of metal detection in shoes, 1 mobile X-ray baggage scanning equipment hold, 3 metal detection gates, 2 person scanning systems with rapid ability to detect any object and 7 explosives detection equipment by sampling.
The scanning and metal detection equipment provides passengers with new facilities that allow security checks to be carried out without the need to remove footwear, which will streamline screening operations and reduce waiting times for passengers.
Following the implementation of the project, the Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport will have a security control system for passengers, luggage and cargo and state-of-the-art equipment that will ensure: the increase of passenger processing standards, the significant reduction of the time of security, increasing the detection capacity of metallic or non-metallic objects in the possession of passengers regardless of the position and place of the object, the precise detection and indication of explosives by means of an alarm.
The total value of the Financing Agreement is 7.663.645,51 lei, of which the amount of co-financing by the European Union is 5.477.951,22 lei.
The implementation period of the project "Equipment and security control systems for passengers, baggage and cargo" - SMIS code 2014+155156, according to the Financing Agreement, is between 01.03.2022 and 31.12.2023, but the project was successfully completed before the term stipulated in the contract.
The project is co-financed from the European Regional Development Fund through the Large Infrastructure Operational Program 2014-2020.
