Cluj-Napoca, May 24, 2024: International Airport Avram Iancu Cluj, Cluj County Council and HiSky airline celebrated today, for the 13th time in the airport's history, the passenger with the number 1.000.000 registered in 2024.

The anniversary of reaching the threshold of 1 million passengers is already a symbolic event of Cluj International Airport, celebrated every spring, and this year the 1.000.000th passenger was registered on the charter flight Antalya - Cluj of the airline HiSky.

The lucky passenger was selected and awarded in a festive moment organized with the arrival of the aircraft, in the presence of representatives of local authorities, partner institutions and organizations, representatives of the airport and the airline company, respectively mass media representatives.

Mr. Viorel Federiga, President of the Board of Directors of Cluj International Airport, stated on the occasion of this event: "Our commitment to increasing the connectivity of the region, based on professionalism and excellence, was an important factor in supporting this achievement. I express my sincere gratitude to our passengers, whose trust and choice were essential in reaching this passenger threshold, which has already become an anniversary symbol for the airport. Choosing to fly from Cluj International Airport is the highest compliment we can receive and we assure you that we are making continuous efforts to improve the passenger experience and services at the airport through the work on the expansion of the new Departures Terminal."

At the level of 2023, at the Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport, the Antalya charter destination occupied the 1st place in the top of the charter destinations, with a total of over 75.000 passengers.

HiSky is an airline that operates regular and charter passenger flights from Romania and the Republic of Moldova to more than 20 domestic and international destinations. The company operates a fleet of eight aircraft from the Airbus A320 family, namely four A320 aircraft with 180 seats, one A319 aircraft in a configuration of 144 seats, two A321neoLR aircraft, manufactured in 2023 and one wide-body aircraft, Airbus A330, for long-haul flights.

From June 7, 2024, the air operator HiSky will operate direct flights connecting Cluj-Napoca to Bucharest, so that passengers can board the aircraft arriving in New York from the country's capital. Flights from Cluj-Napoca to New York are available every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at a starting price of 379 euros/flight segment.
