HiSky celebrated its 1 millionth passenger

The airline HiSky celebrated on Tuesday, April 11, 2023, upon landing at Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport, in Cluj Napoca, the achievement of the number of one million transported passengers. The passenger with this number traveled with HiSky on the Bucharest - Cluj-Napoca domestic route, where he was met by the company and airport representatives. To mark this important achievement, HiSky representatives also offered a prize consisting of free flights for a year, on all routes operated by the company.

HiSky reaches this important step in the existence of an airline, only two years after the official start of operations. The 1 million passengers were transported by HiSky on regular routes, to the 16 domestic and international destinations that the company has in its portfolio, as well as in charter mode, in partnership with the most important travel agencies in Romania.

"Just a month ago we were celebrating the anniversary of HiSky's first two years, and here we are now managing to reach a new target, extremely important for us. In a competitive market, the number of people who choose to buy the service you offer over others is, in fact, the main tool by which success must be measured. Although we are still a young company, it seems that the seriousness and professionalism we have demonstrated in these years have already convinced a million passengers to give us their trust. We are proud to have earned this trust, but more than that, to have always been able to confirm to our passengers that they made the right choice.", stated Iulian Scorpan, CEO of HiSky.

According to the traffic forecasts and the strategy to expand the fleet and the number of destinations, HiSky estimates to reach the target of 2 million transported passengers by the end of the year. Recently, the company began operating flights with its sixth aircraft, the Airbus A321LR model, manufactured in 2023. This is only the first of three new aircraft that HiSky plans to introduce to the fleet this year.

The event by which the company celebrated passing the 1 million passenger mark was hosted by the International Airport Avram Iancu Cluj. In addition to the Bucharest - Cluj-Napoca route, operated with a frequency of 2 return flights per day, 6 days per week, the airline also operates regular flights to Tel Aviv and Dublin at this airport, as well as charter flights to the most vacation destinations accessed.

"Perhaps not by chance, the 1 millionth passenger traveled today on a Bucharest - Cluj-Napoca route. Cluj-Napoca is the first operational base we opened in Romania and it remains an airport that has contributed significantly to our development. I thank the passengers here but also the airport management with whom we have an extremely good partnership, since our first flights.", has completed Iulian Scorpan, CEO of HiSky.

Along with HiSky representatives, representatives of Cluj International Airport management were also present at the event.

David Ciceo, General Manager of the International Airport Avram Iancu Cluj, stated on this occasion: "We particularly appreciate HiSky's decision to be here today at Cluj International Airport to celebrate for the first time the crossing of the 1.000.000 registered passengers threshold, on all flights operated since the beginning of this airline until today. This fact honors us and strengthens the position of Cluj International Airport as the country's first regional airport, being also a reference airport in South-Eastern Europe.

The first quarter of 2023 brought spectacular traffic increases for the airport, setting the stage for record passenger traffic that we anticipate in the summer season. That is precisely why we are pleased to announce that Cluj International Airport will also celebrate, most likely in mid-May, its first million passengers this year.

Last but not least, I want to thank and congratulate HiSky airline for the performance achieved, and through our joint efforts we will continue to offer as many travel options as possible to our passengers, which will be appreciated all traffic segments, respectively business or tourist traffic."

HiSky operates direct international flights departing from the airports of Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Iasi, Baia Mare and Chisinau, domestic flights on the Bucharest - Cluj-Napoca and Bucharest - Timișoara routes, as well as charter flights, in partnership with the largest travel agencies from Romania. The company operates a fleet of six aircraft from the Airbus A320 family, namely four A320 aircraft with 180 seats, an A319 aircraft in a configuration of 144 seats and an Airbus A321LR aircraft with 201 seats. In May, the HiSky fleet will expand to seven aircraft, the company is currently waiting for the reception of the second Airbus A321neo aircraft.
