Cluj International Airport and Wizz Air announce the launch of direct flights to Antalya and Berlin in the 2026 summer season
Cluj-Napoca, March 31, 2026: Wizz Air, the leading airline in Romania, Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport and the Cluj County Council, had the pleasure of recently celebrating the official inauguration of two new routes to Antalya (Turkey) and Berlin (Germany). The first flights took place earlier this week, marking the start of the summer aviation season. Fares start from just 99 RON, with tickets available now on wizzair.com and via the WIZZ mobile app.
The airline operates flights from Cluj-Napoca to Antalya every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, starting March 30, and to Berlin starting today, March 31, with flights every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. These new routes further diversify the airline’s offer in Romania, offering convenient options for city breaks and sunny holidays. Later this spring, Wizz Air will also introduce the long-awaited routes from the Transylvanian city to Milan Malpensa (Italy), Valletta (Malta) and Dubrovnik (Croatia).
Anastasia Novak, Corporate & Sustainability Communications Manager at Wizz Air, said: “We are proud to celebrate these new routes from Cluj-Napoca, in time for our passengers’ next travel plans this spring and summer. The newest flights departing to Antalya and Berlin, along with several other eagerly awaited holiday destinations such as Milan, Malta and Dubrovnik, which will be launched in May, underline our commitment to expanding our network and offering affordable travel options.”
The President of the Cluj County Council, Mr. Alin Tişe stated on this occasion: "The expansion of Wizz Air operations at Cluj International Airport and the introduction of the two routes to Antalya and Berlin, once again confirm the strategic position of the Cluj airport as well as the attractiveness of Cluj County for major air operators. The new destinations will significantly contribute to the development of tourism, to the facilitation of business connections and to the increase of the mobility of citizens from Cluj and the entire North-West region of Romania. The performance of Cluj International Airport remains at a European level and we will continue to support projects that consolidate Cluj's position as a regional hub of mobility and economic development."
Mr. Viorel Federiga, President of the Board of Directors of Cluj International Airport, he also wanted to specify: "Cluj International Airport's partnership with Wizz Air is expanding and we are delighted that these two new routes will improve Cluj's international connectivity. This achievement comes as a result of the status acquired by Cluj International Airport over the last two decades, namely – a model of best practices and a reference airport in South-Eastern Europe."
Mr. David Ciceo, Director General of Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport, sent the following: "Expanding the route network remains a permanent concern of the airport management, and our collaboration for over 19 years with Wizz Air has always been oriented towards offering our passengers multiple travel options. We are pleased with the airline's decision to introduce seasonal regular flights to Antalya for the first time, because this destination has been a leader in the top holiday destinations over the years. At the same time, the resumption of flights to Berlin - previously operated between 2016 and 2024 - responds to a real market demand, facilitating both mobility for tourist purposes and the development of economic and cultural relations."
Since the beginning of its operations in Romania in 2006, Wizz Air has constantly increased its investments, considering the country a strategic market. Currently, the airline has 230 routes for sale from 14 airports in Romania, connecting passengers with 83 destinations in 27 countries. In its almost 20 years of activity in Romania, Wizz Air has opened nine operational bases and currently has over 1.600 employees.
