Marketing2026-02-03T14:36:35+02:00Cluj-Napoca, February 3, 2026: Wizz Air, the leading airline in Romania, and Cluj-Napoca International Airport are pleased to announce today two new destinations for the 2026 summer season, ideal for sunny holidays: Malta and Dubrovnik. Fares start from just 129 RON, with tickets already available on wizzair.com and through the WIZZ mobile app.
Starting on May 22, Wizz Air will expand its offer with the launch of a connection to Malta, operated twice a week, every Monday and Friday. A day later, on May 23, the local network from Cluj-Napoca will be strengthened with the introduction of new flights to Dubrovnik, on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
"After having the opportunity to fly on some of our newest routes from Cluj-Napoca, inaugurated at the end of 2025, I am delighted to see that Wizz Air is starting a new phase of expansion for the summer season. It is great to see that Romania is becoming increasingly connected to impressive holiday destinations, such as Malta and Dubrovnik", said Ioana Seghete, flight attendant from Cluj-Napoca and WIZZ ambassador in Romania.
The President of the Cluj County Council, Mr. Alin Tişe stated on this occasion: "Cluj International Airport is one of the priorities of the Cluj County Council, and the development of the route network is an essential element of our medium and long-term strategy. The announcement of the operation of Wizz Air flights to the two destinations, Malta and Dubrovnik, in the summer season of 2026 clearly demonstrates that the development direction assumed and the investments made produce concrete results. The performance of Cluj International Airport is maintained at a European level, and the County Council will continue to support its expansion and modernization, so that Cluj County remains a benchmark of excellence and development for the entire North-West region."
Mr. Viorel Federiga, President of the Board of Directors of Cluj International Airport, he also wanted to specify: "The partnership of Cluj International Airport with Wizz Air is expanding and we are pleased that these new routes will improve Cluj's international connectivity. The operation of the two highly sought-after destinations, aimed at diversifying the offer and responding to the increased interest in mobility and tourist exchanges, strengthens the airport's position in the region as the main air gateway to Transylvania. We wish the airline operator Wizz Air much success and to as many destinations operated from Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport as possible."
Mr. David Ciceo, Director General of Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport, added: "Our collaboration of over 19 years with Wizz Air has always been oriented towards offering our passengers multiple travel options. The introduction of the new destination to Dubrovnik, operated for the first time from Cluj International Airport, as well as the resumption of flights to Malta are clear proof of our joint commitment to meet the growing demands of passengers and to support the economic and tourist development of the region. Passengers from Transylvania will have from May, not only two new destinations available for their travels, but connections will be ensured with two new destination countries in the European Union, Croatia and Malta."
Since the start of its operations in Romania in 2006, Wizz Air has consistently increased its investments in the country, recognizing it as a strategic market. The company currently offers 238 routes from 14 airports in Romania, connecting passengers with 83 destinations in 27 countries.
