Swiss International Air Lines (SWISS) is the largest air carrier in Switzerland.
Owning one of the most advanced and modern aircraft fleets in Europe, SWISS is a premium airline, offering direct flights from Zurich and Geneva, serving more than 110 destinations in 43 countries and carrying approximately 16,5 million passengers per year with its fleet of 102 aircraft.
SWISS is an important engine for the Swiss economy, society and tourism. The company embodies the traditional values of its country of origin, representing a promise of quality and reliability.
The airline has also set ambitious decarbonisation targets and plans to halve its net carbon dioxide emissions compared to 2030 by 2019, and to be completely net neutral by 2050 from a carbon perspective, in particular by promoting the use of sustainable aviation fuels.
SWISS is part of the Lufthansa Group and is also a member of the Star Alliance, the world's largest airline alliance.
Lufthansa Group currently operates up to 24 weekly flights from Cluj-Napoca to ZRH & MUC, offering 26% more seats than last year.
SWISS operates 3 flights per week (Monday, Thursday and Sunday) with E90 (up to 112 seats) or A220-300 (up to 145 seats) flight equipment. Regarding the prices offered: the fare for a return ticket to ZRH starts at 180 euros. Other price examples: CLJ-GVA from €159, CLJ-PAR from €200, CLJ-JFK €580, CLJ-MIA from €699.
The company's core values are: responsibility and respect for our customers, partners and colleagues, empathy, entrepreneurial spirit and enthusiasm.
Together, these four principles guide how we, as a team, can make the SWISS experience come to life and become memorable for our guests and business partners.
SWISS is a successful airline. In 2023, it made an operating profit of CHF 718,5 million. The record earnings result is due, among other things, to significant air travel demand and the company's competitive cost structures.
The record profit result will allow SWISS to invest further in ensuring its own success. In 2024, the airline placed a special emphasis on increasing its sustainability (especially in its flight operations), constantly improving the air travel experience of its customers.
SWISS also achieved above-average reliability in air operations last year and hopes to achieve the same performance in 2024.
The year 2024 was a remarkable one for Cluj International Airport, thanks to the results obtained in all traffic segments:
- tourist charter traffic has grown significantly, demonstrating the increasing preference of passengers for holiday destinations, both within and outside Europe. The airport has managed to become an important platform for charter flights, thanks to extensive collaboration with tour operators and airlines;
- the distribution of Schengen and Non-Schengen traffic reflects the diversification and consolidation of the route network: approximately 75% of the traffic is represented by Schengen flights, while 25% remains in the Non-Schengen category;
- so far, according to the recorded or predicted traffic data, each month of 2024 will count more than 200.000 passengers, showing the confidence and sustained interest of travelers for the services offered by Cluj Airport;
- direct connections to important hubs such as Bucharest, Budapest, Istanbul, Munich, Warsaw and Zurich ensure passengers fast and efficient daily connections to major air transit centers in Europe, strengthening the airport's position as a strategic departure point for international travel;
- August remains the busiest month, with the airport recording a record traffic of more than 350.000 passengers this year as well, while the busiest day was 12 August 2024 with 14.090 passengers recorded in a single day.
