Cluj Airport continues to support the Net-Zero Carbon Emissions Aviation Goal by 2050
Cluj Avram Iancu International Airport was the host of the Aviation Event in March 2022. During this event, PhD. David Ciceo, the Managing Director of Cluj Airport, emphasized the fact that the airport sustains the Net-Zero Carbon Emissions Aviation Goal.
In this respect, Cluj Avram Iancu International Airport collaborates with the European Commission via the OLGA (hOLystic&GreenAirport) Project, aiming to reduce the environmental impact from the aviation sector. These solutions support the European Union’s (EU) carbon neutrality ambition, and their goal is to improve the quality of life.
In June 2019, during the 29th Annual Congress of ACI EUROPE, Cluj Avram Iancu International Airport signed the commitment to reduce the carbon emissions to zero by 2050.
Moreover, the connection between OLGA and Cluj Airport envisages the beginning of a new perspective, where airports together with the European Commission serve the need of sustainable mobility, also being focused on green aviation.
OLGA Project facilitates the collaboration with different partners and European airports (Charles de Gaulle, Milano Malpensa, Zagreb Franjo Tuđman), to strengthen the impact of research in the aviation sector, through the European Horizon 2020 Programme.
