On April 29, 2024, the OLGA project hosted a dynamic workshop on the certification of green innovations in Paris airports. The workshop, organized under the umbrella of Work Package 8 – Technological Exploitation and Transfer, was hosted by ENGIE Lab CRIGEN, with the invaluable support of COMOTI (National Turbomotor Research and Development Institute) and Bureau Veritas.
The event served as an essential platform for industry stakeholders, experts and policy makers to converge and deliberate on the crucial aspects of green certification in the aviation sector. Participants had the opportunity to delve into different dimensions of sustainability, from waste management to the use of biofuels, hydrogen and sustainable aviation fuel, thus advancing the collective understanding and implementation of green practices in airport operations.
The central point of the Workshop was the information provided by the airports that are part of the OLGA project, namely the airports of the ADP Group, Milan Malpensa Airport, Zagreb Airport and Cluj Airport. Their participation, alongside key partners such as Air France, Air Liquide, Infraplan and SNAM (Italy's leading energy infrastructure operator), marked OLGA's shared commitment to promoting sustainability in the aviation and airport sectors.
By bringing together key players from across the sector, the meeting addressed several aspects of the green certification process and also identified barriers and gaps, thereby promoting a more robust framework for sustainable aviation. The workshop facilitated the exchange of knowledge and laid the groundwork for promoting the mitigation of the carbon footprint of airports around the world.
The OLGA project received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation program under Grant Agreement no. 101036871
