New equipment at Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport: Special snow removal vehicle with plow, brush and blower and Equipment for measuring the braking coefficient of the moving surface

As part of the project "Airport equipment for snow removal/deicing/anti-icing of moving surfaces and determining the degree of braking", special snow removal vehicle with plow, brush and blower and Equipment for measuring the braking coefficient of the moving surface have entered the equipment of Avram International Airport Iancu Cluj. 

Snow removal truck with plow, brush and blower is intended for use in the perimeter of the Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport during the winter season, in order to carry out snow removal operations on movement surfaces (runway, taxiways, aircraft parking platforms), being necessary due to the expansion of the movement surface by building new parking places for aircraft, thus contributing to the creation of conditions for the safe operation of flights. At the same time, as a result of technological advances, new generation equipment has operating characteristics with increased effectiveness and superior efficiency regarding the amounts of snow cleared. 

The equipment for measuring the braking coefficient will be used to determine the braking coefficient specific to the moving surface, this coefficient being necessary for evaluating the state of the moving surface which is reported to air traffic services in order to inform the crews that are going to land/take off from the airport.

The new equipment is part of the project "Airport equipment for removing snow/deicing/anti-icing movement surfaces and determining the degree of braking", a project co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund through the Large Infrastructure Operational Program 2014-2020.

The total value of the Financing Agreement is 8.217.020,70 lei, of which the amount co-financed by the European Union is 2.910.235,90 lei.
