Through its units, the Romanian Intelligence Service organizes and executes activities of collecting, verifying and capitalizing on information related to activities/phenomena that may constitute risks and threats to national security, the attributions and competences of the Service aiming, among others, at the defense of democracy and constitutional order , of the constitutionally guaranteed rights and fundamental freedoms of citizens, as well as protecting their unrestricted exercise.

The attributions also include the knowledge and prevention of activities aimed at initiating, organizing, carrying out or supporting in any way extremist actions of communist, fascist, legionary, racist, anti-Semitic or any other nature, as well as inciting acts that may endanger order the rule of law.

Also, attention is paid to the illegal information activities carried out by various natural persons or unauthorized groups, including through the use of specific means of interception of communications, decisive, from the point of view of national security, being the nature of the data and information collected, the way of use of them and the fundamental rights of citizens that are violated by such acts.

The Romanian Intelligence Service through the Anti-Terrorist Brigade operates at the International Airport Avram Iancu Cluj the following activities:

• Security control of passengers and cabin and hold luggage;
• Security control of the flight/airport personnel and the items carried by them;
• Security screening of cargo/mail shipments, in-flight supplies, airport supplies, air carrier materials/mail;
• Security control of vehicles that have the right to access the security areas of an airport;
• Ensuring the necessary protective measures and prompt reactive actions to repel an attack initiated in the public area, in order to counteract or reduce its effects.
