Beginning of the project "Ensuring CAT operating conditions. III at the runway 07-25"

The Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport, an autonomous authority subordinate to the Cluj County Council, as a beneficiary of non-reimbursable funds through the Large Infrastructure Operational Program 2014-2020 and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, as an Intermediate Body for Transport, signed Financing Contract No. .232/24.05.2023 for the realization of the project "Ensuring CAT operating conditions. III at the runway 07-25". 

The objective of the project is to modernize the current instrument landing system (ILS - Instrument Landing System) of category II, by installing new equipment that will include it in category III.

With the increased performance of the current instrument landing system, from CAT. II to CAT. III will increase the safety level of flight operations on the take-off/landing runway, in case of reduced visibility caused by adverse weather conditions.

The modernization of the instrument landing system will ensure the efficiency of operational activities and the reduction of passenger waiting times in case of possible delays or rerouting of flights caused by unfavorable weather conditions (especially dense fog conditions).

The total value of the Financing Agreement is 8.500.354,66 lei, of which the amount of co-financing by the European Union is 3.035.847,73 lei.

For the project "Ensuring CAT operating conditions. III at runway 07-25" - SMIS code 2014+ 158457, the implementation period is 13 months, respectively between 01.12.2022 and 31.12.2023.

The project is co-financed from the European Fund for Regional Development through the Large Infrastructure Operational Program 2014-2020.
