Completion of the project "Compliance of the beaconing and lighting system with the certification specifications of Regulation 139/2014" code SMIS 2014 + 157922

International Airport Avram Iancu Cluj, an autonomous authority subordinated to the Cluj County Council, announces the completion of the project "Compliance of the beaconing and lighting system with the certification specifications of Regulation 139/2014".

The project was implemented following the conclusion of Financing Contract No. 238/09.06.2023 between Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport, as beneficiary of European funds through the Large Infrastructure Operational Program 2014-2020, and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, as Managing Authority.

The objectives of the project, carried out in accordance with the requirements of EU Regulation 139/2014, were: the modernization of the runway axial marking system, the addition of the "flash" lighting system on the two directions of the runway (07-25) and the installation of new equipment with LED technology for aircraft guidance. At the same time, the aircraft parking platform lighting system was installed, with 5 lighting poles being mounted.

As part of the project, the new equipment was integrated into a control system created with state-of-the-art information technologies.

The new beaconing system will ensure an increase in the level of safety and security of the operational activities carried out on the airport movement surface, both for air operators and for the passengers of the International Airport Avram Iancu Cluj, in accordance with European and national regulations in the field of civil aviation.

The total value of the Financing Contract was 18.296.445,59 lei, of which the value co-financed by the European Union was 6.534.545,49 lei. The implementation period of the project "Compliance of the beaconing and lighting system with the certification specifications of Regulation 139/2014", code SMIS 2014+ 157922 is between 01.09.2022 and 31.12.2026 and was successfully completed before the scheduled deadline.
