The project "C3 standard hand baggage scanning equipment with integrated automatic tray management/return system", co-financed from the European Regional Development Fund through the Large Infrastructure Operational Program 2014 - 2020, aims to modernize Cluj Avram Iancu International Airport, increase regional accessibility and mobility , by investing in the airport infrastructure, but also increasing the connectivity and mobility of the area served by Cluj Avram Iancu International Airport R.A. through an increased volume of passengers who will transit the airport.
The objective of the project is the integrated implementation of a cabin baggage security control system at the highest standard established by the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC), for the detection of prohibited items in passenger baggage, a project that would include cabin baggage scanning equipment with standard C3 X-rays with integrated automatic tray management/return system.
The C3 standard EDS equipment together with the automatic tray return system will be located in the Departures Terminal and used for the security control of passengers' cabin baggage, replacing the current C2 standard equipment.
By installing this equipment, the security control process will be streamlined and passenger processing time will be reduced, thanks to the superior scanning capacity. Standard C3 EDS equipment enables the scanning of cabin baggage without the need to remove liquids, aerosols or large electronics. At the same time, the equipment will be equipped with an integrated automatic tray return system.
The reconfiguration of the passenger security control flow, by implementing the project "Standard C3 hand luggage scanning equipment with automatic integrated tray management / return system", co-financed from the European Regional Development Fund through the Large Infrastructure Operational Program 2014 - 2020, will result in increased passenger and cabin baggage processing capacity as well as increased security.
The total value of the Financing Agreement is 19.106.751,79 lei, of which the value of co-financing from the European Union is 12.681.135,52 lei and the value of financing from the state budget is 1.939.467,78 lei.

integrated automatic tray management / return" - SMIS code 2014+ 120737, the implementation period is 22 months, respectively between 01.08.2019 and 31.05.2021.
