Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure signed on 22.03.2021, Financing Contract No. 95/22.03.2021, for the project "Equipping with PSI equipment and facilities and medical emergencies" code SMIS 2014+120744, project co-financed from the European Fund for Regional Development through the Large Infrastructure Operational Program 2014 - 2020.

Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport continues its development in terms of airport infrastructure and the provision of new equipment, and the implementation of the project aims to increase the level of safety of passengers, their companions, airlines and personnel working in the airport perimeter, such as and their level of confidence in the intervention capacity of rescue and firefighting personnel in emergency situations.

The project "Equipping with PSI equipment and facilities and medical emergencies" consists in the purchase of 2 PSI vehicles for fire prevention and extinguishing, a rapid intervention vehicle, 100 bed stretchers, 10 aluminized suits, 4 medical defibrillators and the creation of a PSI training ground .

The implementation of the project aims to ensure rapid interventions in the event of an accident or incident, reducing intervention times, optimizing aircraft servicing activities, increasing the capacity to intervene and evacuate victims in the event of an air accident, training PSI personnel, increasing the capacity of intervention to employees and reducing reaction times in the event of an incident/accident, ensuring the safety of airport emergency service employees and employees of other departments, or those of state institutions, airlines or handling companies and employees economic operators operating within the airport premises.

The total value of the Financing Agreement is 7.741.579,50 lei, of which the value of the European Union's contribution is 5.437.279,67 and the value of financing from the state budget is 831.583,94 lei.

The project implementation period is 41 months, with the start of the project on 01.09.2020 and its completion on 28.02.2023.
