Starting with September 03, 2025, the restrictions on the limitation to 100 ml of containers for liquids, aerosols and gels carried in hand luggage at Cluj International Airport will be eliminated. Passengers will be able to carry individual containers with a maximum volume of 2 liters in their cabin luggage.
This decision was possible as a result of the measures implemented by Cluj International Airport in collaboration with the Anti-Terrorist Brigade within the SRI and with the manufacturer of the equipment purchased by the airport.
Alin Tișe, President, Cluj County Council: "Cluj International Airport represents one of the most important strategic objectives of Cluj County, and our goal is to offer passengers the best quality facilities and services, so that their travel is not only a pleasant experience, but also easy and safe. Lifting restrictions on the amount of liquids that can be transported on board aircraft is a measure expected by passengers. By adopting these measures, we prove once again that Cluj International Airport remains a model of good practices in terms of infrastructure development, passenger safety and security.”
David Ciceo, General Manager, Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport: "We are happy to bring good news for our passengers, who will no longer have to remove liquids at security and will be able to carry liquids in 2-liter containers. The equipment software has been updated to the new standards for detecting explosives in liquids and the equipment system has been reconfigured according to the requirements of the European Commission. With the lifting of restrictions, passenger processing time will decrease.”
Viorel Federiga, President of the Board of Directors of Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport: "The lifting of restrictions on the transport of liquids demonstrates once again the firm commitment of the airport management to provide as many facilities as possible for passengers. Cluj International Airport has purchased security equipment in 2024 from European funds, within the project "Expansion of the departures passenger terminal on the North side".
Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport is the country's first regional airport, with a traffic of over 3,2 million passengers recorded in 2024, and for 2025, estimates show that traffic will reach 3,4 million.
