Start of the project "Equipping with PSI equipment and facilities and medical emergencies"

Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure signed on 22.03.2021, Financing Contract No. 95/22.03.2021, for the realization of the project "Equipping with PSI equipment and facilities and medical emergencies", co-financed from the European Fund for Regional Development through the Large Infrastructure Operational Program 2014 - 2020.
The general objective of this project is to increase the level of safety of passengers, their companions, airlines and staff operating within the perimeter of Avram Iancu International Airport Cluj RA, as well as increasing their level of confidence in the staff's ability to intervene rescue and extinguishing fires in emergency situations. The project "Equipping with PSI equipment and facilities and medical emergencies" consists in the purchase of 2 PSI vehicles, 1 rapid intervention vehicle, 100 pcs. bed stretchers, 10 pcs. aluminized suits, 4 pcs. external automatic medical defibrillators and the creation of a PSI training ground within the Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport.
As a result of the implementation of the new project, the final results will be the provision of fire prevention and intervention services in the event of an incident/accident in the shortest possible time, according to international aviation regulations and environmental protection and insurance standards of quality. Thus, at the end of the project, the endowment of the airport, more specifically the PSI service, will be ensured with equipment that will reduce the intervention time and increase the evacuation capacity of victims in the event of aviation accidents, as well as the improvement of the facilities for sheltering the airport staff during situations emergencies caused by chemical, bacteriological or nuclear accidents.
The total value of the Financing Agreement is 7.741.579,50 lei, of which the amount of European Union co-financing is 5.437.279,67 lei.
For the project "Equipping with PSI equipment and facilities and medical emergencies" - SMIS code 2014+ 120744, the implementation period is 19 months, respectively between 01.09.2020 and 31.03.2022.
