public relations2025-02-18T15:24:11+02:00February 18, 2025 – Cluj-Napoca – Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport informs that today, February 18, a Wizz Air plane, operating flight no. W9 5400, on the Brașov-Luton route, requested an emergency landing at Cluj Airport, following damage to the aircraft's fuselage.
On board the Airbus 321N aircraft were 221 passengers, 5 infants and 7 crew members, and the amount of fuel at the time of landing was 10 tons.
The Emergency Plan was activated, and the fire brigade teams of Cluj International Airport acted swiftly, moving in the vicinity of the runway, being ready to intervene until the arrival of the crews from the Inspectorate for Emergency Situations. 4 ISU special vehicles and 3 ambulances arrived at Cluj International Airport shortly before the aircraft landed.
We would like to point out that the aircraft landed safely at Cluj International Airport at 13:11 p.m., without the need for the intervention of firefighters or doctors from the ambulances that arrived on site.
Air traffic at Cluj Airport was not affected, with all flights operating as scheduled.
The passengers were disembarked safely, and airline representatives and Cluj International Airport staff are providing all the support the passengers need.
Following the incident, a specialized team is conducting a technical inspection of the aircraft, after which company representatives will decide whether the flight will be operated with the same aircraft or the passengers will be taken on by another aircraft of the airline.
