"Aircraft de-icing/anti-icing electric vehicle" project, SMIS code 2014 + 158005, project co-financed from the European Regional Development Fund through the Large Infrastructure Operational Program 2014 - 2020
The Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport, as a beneficiary of European funds through the Large Infrastructure Operational Program 2014-2020 and the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure, as the Management Authority, signed on June 9, 2023 Financing Contract No. 237 for the achievement of the investment objective "Electric aircraft de-icing/anti-icing vehicle".
The "Aircraft de-icing/anti-icing electric vehicle" project, code SMIS 2014 + 158005 is co-financed from the European Regional Development Fund through the Large Infrastructure Operational Program 2014-2020 and has an implementation period of 12 months, respectively between January 01, 2023 - December 31 2023.
The total value of the Financing Agreement is 14.316.145,00 lei, of which the amount co-financed by the European Union is 5.115.200,13 lei.
The Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport, autonomous management subordinated to the Cluj County Council, is an airport in the process of development and modernization, with a car fleet equipped with a range of vehicles that are used to carry out airport activities, in safe conditions
The number of flights and passengers registered at the Avram Iancu Cluj International Airport is increasing, aiming to ensure the correlation of flight operating capacity with the forecasted air traffic demand. Air traffic from and to Romania creates economic benefits, in this sense the expansion of the airport and the development of the airport infrastructure and safety zones are imperative.
The objective of the "Aircraft de-icing/anti-icing electric truck" project is to increase the level of safety of passengers, airlines and personnel working in the Cluj airport perimeter, as well as to reduce the degree of pollution, by using electric motors to the detriment of the with fossil fuel. The objective will be achieved by purchasing 2 electric aircraft de-icing/anti-icing vehicles.
The new equipment is intended to serve the operational activity during the winter season, when due to the precipitation specific to this season, additional operations are necessary to ensure the safe operating conditions of the flights. Electrical aircraft de-icing/anti-icing equipment is required in aircraft snow and ice removal activities.
The purchase of aircraft de-icing/anti-icing vehicles will result in the reduction of the times for performing de-icing/anti-icing operations. In the context of the increase in the number of de-icers owned by the airport, the simultaneous de-icing/anti-icing capacity of several aircraft will increase.
At the same time, the use of state-of-the-art electrical equipment will contribute to the significant reduction of carbon emissions, in accordance with international standards regarding the protection of the environment.
