Cluj Airport is celebrating its 2 millionth passenger in 2019

Cluj-Napoca, September 04, 2019:  "Avram Iancu" Cluj International Airport celebrated today its 2.000.000th passenger registered in 2019. This significant passenger threshold is reached three days earlier this year, compared to 2018, as a result of a positive growth trend of air traffic from the first 8 months of the year.

"Avram Iancu" Cluj International Airport touches for the third time in its history the threshold of 2 million passengers registered in a calendar year, a particularly important achievement due both to the airport infrastructure development strategy and the expansion of the route network and the number of air operators.  

Passenger with number 2.000.000 registered in the year 2019, was transported this year by the air operator Blue Air, on his flight number 0B 3756 from Dublin to Cluj-Napoca. The lucky passenger was selected during his journey to Cluj International Airport and awarded in the presence of representatives of the airline, representatives of the Cluj County Council, representatives of other local authorities and partner institutions or organizations, respectively mass media representatives.

The General Manager of the Blue Air airline, Mrs. Oana Petrescu, stated on this occasion: "We are delighted to celebrate this event with our partners at Cluj International Airport. Today's event is the result of our shared passion for flying and travel. So far, more than 1 million Blue Air passengers have been welcomed by this airport, and the number is continuously growing. Our company is in the process of improving services and communication with passengers. And we rely on the good collaboration with the representatives of Cluj Airport to further develop the quality of services".

President of the Board of Directors of "Avram Iancu" Cluj International Airport, Mr. Viorel Federiga declared on the occasion of this event: "Cluj International Airport exceeds the threshold of 2.000.000 passengers for the third consecutive year, which can only be a confirmation of a solid development of its passenger traffic. It is a special achievement for the country's first regional airport and an additional argument for continuing the efforts to develop the airport infrastructure, for breaking new and new records every year."

Mr. David Ciceo, General Director of the International Airport "Avram Iancu" Cluj, stated the following: "Year after year, Cluj International Airport manages to exceed its limits and achieve new passenger records. This year, in the months of July and August, the threshold of 300.000 monthly passengers was exceeded, a first for a regional airport in Romania. The threshold of 2.000.000 registered passengers is a confirmation of a sustained growth of the organization, which would not have been possible without the support of the Cluj County Council or without an extremely well-developed academic, cultural or business environment in Cluj-Napoca.
